About

Concocting a full-bodied sound through and through, you’d almost believe False Heights to be a tad larger than two.

- Happy Mag -

False Heights are an alt-Pop duo based in Taupō, New Zealand. Formed in 2016 as a result of an impromptu jamming session, April (Vocals/keys) and Ashley (Drums/Guitars/Bass) have been writing and performing infectious pop bops ever since. Their latest Self-Produced EP ‘Too Afraid to Try’ released in late 2022 gives an insight into the unique and eclectic sound the pair create together. It’s a struggle to  pack their vibe into a specific genre with songs boasting elements of punk, reggae, rock and a huge helping of pure unapologetic pop. If you enjoy the sound of artists like The Dresden Dolls, Regina Spektor, Paramore, Cake, The Cranberries, and Jimmy Eat World then False Heights’ music should most definitely be right up your alley.

2022 finished with a bang for the duo playing a New Years Eve set at Rhythm & Vines, and 2023 followed hot on it’s heels with an acoustic opening slot at The Summer Concert Series - Taupō where the pair played to a crowd of at least 15,000 as they warmed up the stage for rock legends ZZ Top, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Stone Temple Pilots and The Angels. Unsurprisingly, False Heights is experiencing a lot of buzz locally and beyond.
